Born and raised in Princeton, Dr. Raj Upadya has spent the vast majority of his life in New Jersey.  After graduating from the Hun School of Princeton, he went on to graduate from Rutgers University, and then proceeded to attend the acclaimed University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

After finishing dental school at Penn, Dr. Upadya completed his General Practice Residency at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, and then served as Chief Resident in the Department of Dentistry.  Upon entering private practice, he joined and became an active Sustaining Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, attending eight of the last ten Annual Scientific Sessions, and passing an extensive written examination on comprehensive cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He is currently in the Accreditation process.

His love for education never waned as he continued to broaden his cosmetic education at the University of California – Los Angeles Aesthetic Continuum, where he completed a rigorous certification in comprehensive esthetic dentistry.  He underwent further extensive prosthodontic training at the renowned Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Study allowing him to treat even the most complex dental problems.  He has logged well over 600 hours of continuing education in the last ten years, and is now a candidate for Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. It is this ability to integrate beauty along with function that has enabled him to develop a practice of Predictable Functional Esthetics.

Dr. Upadya practices Cosmetic, Restorative and Implant dentistry in Florham Park, NJ, and remains active in the dental community as an Associate Faculty Member and Mentor for the Dawson Academy as well as a board member of several publications.  His commitment to staying current on the new advancements in dentistry and his dedication to the profession have inspired him to found several local dental study clubs focused on furthering knowledge as well as giving back to the community.

Dr. Upadya currently resides in East Hanover, NJ with his wife of eleven years, Pam, and their three year old son, Arden. They have helped inspire him to achieve his most recent accomplishments, the completion of both "Bick Lick" Olympic and "Dottie’s House" Sprint distance Triathlons newsroanoke.com ,benefitting the YMCA and a Domestic Violence transitional housing facility, as well as the "Tackle the Trail" 5K Run benefiting the Morris County Park System. In his spare time, he enjoys strumming his guitar, and feeble attempts at improving his golf game.
